THE MERCHANT NAVY
The men of the Merchant Navy are somewhat bitter. We protest against the way we seamen are treated as outcasts and "unsung heroes" of this war. The clubs with sleeping accommodation refuse us men who, without ship's accommodation in which to sleep, have little other choice than to sleep in tlie parks. We are not counted as an armed force as are army, navy or air force men in uniform, and we are told by some of the soldiers we are civilians, and don't reach the standard of the forces. Even the clubs which are meant for us are taken up by others. The public m this port want to cut out the "outcast and unsung heroes" stuff. If we hear any more we shall laugh aloud; we don't like two-faced people. England. MERCHANT NAVY.
