Sergeant-Gunner A. V. Cliffe, son of Mrs. E. E. Cliffe, of 3, Ewington Avenue, Mount Eden, has been granted his commission. PilotOfficer Cliffe was educated at the Seddon Memorial Technical College and was a well-known Auckland footballer. He left New Zealand in 1941, was posted with the Coastal Command in England, and last year was transferred to a bomber squadron at Malta.
