CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
YW.C.A. —The Island Girls'" Club held a meeting, at which there was an attendance of 90 members and friends. The programme consisted of items by the Niue Island girls, girls from Tonga, Samoa and Rarotonga, after which there was supper and a social time.
Pemvomen's Club. —An address on "English Folk Songs" was given by Mr. A'. B. Thompson yesterday. It was computed, he said, that there were over five thousand English folk songs, and there was in England a folk song society. Church music and folk songs had a common origin. The president, Mrs. Una Craig, presided. Miss Anita Webster contributed humorous sketches. Comrades' Club.— lt was announced by the president at the weekly social that she had dispatched the first lot of parcels for the year, numbering 24, to sons of members overseas. It is gratifying to know, she said, that all previous lots had reached their destination, and many appreciative letters had been received. Up to date 148 parcels had been sent from the club.
