SUB. SHELLS JAPAN

HOKKAIDO ISLAND ATTACKED. Reed. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, May 10. Tokyo official radio announced that ah Allied submarine shelled the vicinity of Horobetsu village, on the south-eastern coast of Hokkaido Island last night. The shells landed in a field and caused no casualties or damage. The American Associated Press points out that Hokkaido is ' the second largest island of the string constituting the Japanese homeland.
