DUTCH ROUND-UP

STRICT MARTIAL LAW Police Ordered To Shoot Groups Of Over Five Rec. 11 a.m. LONDON, May 10. In connection with the recent imposition of martial law in Holland, Dutch circles in London have learned that in the past few days many thousands of Dutchmen have been rounded up by the Gestapo. While the first deportations of re-impris-oned Dutch soldiers are taking place, the Germans are beginning with the registration of all able-bodied men between the ages of 13 and 35. Dutch police have been ordered to shoot on sight any assemblies of more than five in public thoroughfares. The sale of alcohol in public houses is forbidden and the Germans will confiscate all businesses which I fail to conform to the normal opening times during the operation of martial law. Strikes and lock-outs are banned. Those who carry arms or resist authority will be sentenced to death. To enforce these laws Seyss Inquart, Nazi Commissioner in Holland, has appointed a special deputy, Dr. Wimmer, who in turn has appointed deputies for each of the 11 provinces in Holland.
