WINTER RACING
TRAnCK TOPICS AN IMPROVED HACK That good hack Hunting King 5s due to make his next appearance at the Te Aroha meeting next Saturday. He was successful on that course in March, but has not raced since then. However, he has gone on the right way in the interim and will be an improved horse when he gSes to the post. In five starts this sealon Hunting King has only been out of the money on two occasions, and is likely to extend his record before long. A MKELY IMPROVER The two-year-old Richelieu failed to reveal the form expected in his races at ElterVlie" and is to have a further opportunity at Te Aroha.- He is a very robust colt, and the racing he had during the holidays has improved him. If the going is firm Richelieu should do better at the country meeting next Saturday. NOVICE SHOWS ABILITY One of the latest to undergo a course of schooling over the battens at Ellerslie is Wee Pay. During the week the daughter of Aufopay shaped very capably over the small fences, showing plenty of confidence for a novice. Wee Pay has abundance of speed, though she is a shade on the small side. Still, her dam, Wee Pat, was no bigger, yet she won the Great Northern Hurdles in 1034. FUTURE APPEARS BRIGHT Bv finishing second in a division of the 'On.slow Stakes at the Auckland meeting the two-year-old Chatmoney ran a very creditable race. This juvenile has any amount of speed, but has been growing very fast. He gives promise of developing into a good performer next season, for the experience, he has had should assist him materially. ARRIVAL FROM MELBOURNE The Newmarket Handicap winner, All Veil, owned by Mr. G. J. Barton, arrived at Bluff from Melbourne early in the week. The Veilmond horse has not won a race for some time, but he has some fine performances to his credit in big sprints in Australia, and he is still only five. All Veil has run his best races on straight courses. MERITORIOUS EFFORT Burberry, whose rider lost an iron in the juvenile handicap at Riccarton on Easter Monday, was responsible for a striking effort in the Autumn Nursery last Saturday. Qui Tarn, St. Nattar and Burberry soon drew clear, and Burberry went into the lead at the junction with the main track. Then he swerved right •out ami ran the rest of the distance bruehing the outside fence. He nevei reUnquished the lead, however, and won by two lengths from St. Nattar, which had an equal advantage over Stavros.
