These rows of P-40 fighters of the U.S. Army Air Force have been transported across the ocean on this U.S. Navy carrier and have reached the point from which they can take off for their land base. As they reach the end of their journey, convoying vessels swing astern of the carrier. Mechanics can be seen giving the planes a final check-up, before their pilots take off for land. Each pilot got off safely although it was. the first time any of them had flown from a carrier.
