AT CLAUDELANDS

S. AUCKLAND CLUBS

UNHOPPLED PERFORMERS

Two recent winners, Paul P,arrishVand Dolores Silk, will have their Work cut out to concede trp to B*. yards start to the opposition in the Goldfields Handicap, the tighter of the two events for unhoppled hoi ses at the combined meeting of the South Auckland Trotting Clubs at Claudelands on Saturday. Both possess early speed, jand can run out a solid two miles, but Twice Worthy, on the limit, Imperial Jade land Sea Wolf, 12 yards, and Echoist, 3fr yards, are four of the other 16 acceptors which are assured of solid followings* Twice Worthy won easily at Hawera on Easter Saturday, clocking 4.54, his mark in the Goldfields, and he appears to be improving with every race this season. What is more, he is a solid customer, rarely putting a foot wrong. Twice Worthy beat Sea Wolf at Hawera, and the latter now meets him on 48 yaras better terms, which must also bring him into serious calculations. Imperial Jade was in a place at Wellington and did'.better at Hawera to be a good second to Indian Arrow on the concluding day. .; Indian Arrow, which won a double at the meeting, is reported to be extra good;'; for a young trotter, and credit must therefore be given to Imperial Jade for conceding him 84 yards and getting to within a couple of lengths of him at the judge. Echoist, a full brother to the champion trotter Lamont, has good winning form this season, and on the ocasion of his previous visit to the Waikato, he was a good second to Paul Parrish. Echoist is in L. F. Berkett's sucessful stable,; and mayi be the favourite. . I
