MISSING 14 MONTHS

RATING FROM QNEHUNGA UNOFFICIAL NEWS RECEIVED Although there is, as'yet, no official confirmation of the statement, a message received from an unofficial source has raised the hope's of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wagner, of 3SS, Queen Street, Onehunga, that their son, Ordinary-Signalman Richard James Wagner, reported missing after the Java Sea battle 1-1 months ago, may still be alive.

Ordinary-Signalman Wagner, who is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wagner, was a keen yachtsman, and was vice-commodore of the Manukau Yacht Club. He was born and educated at Onehunga, and joined the R.N.V.R. at the outbreak of war.

Unofficial reports of the safety of British personnel • have not always proved correct, and authorities have warned that they should not be fully accepted, pending official advice. News has also been received by the Navy Office and communicated to the next-of-kin.
