Press Association.—Copyright ■-~ Rec. 11 a.m. PRETORIA, May siosl The South African general election-' campaign is now in full swing. The. Prime Minister, General Smuts, announced to-day the conclusion of an election pact between his Unitedparty and the Dominion and Labour parties, which are to be partners in a Coalition Government. The Dominion and Labour parties have been allotted nine constituencies and they have undertaken to support General Smuts' candidates in all other electorates. General Smuts is fighting the election solely on the war issue, although social security is a prominent feature of all platforms. Special arrangements are being made for the recording of soldiers' votes. Those on the battlefronts outside South Africa will vote for parties instead of candidates. Ballot papers will be flown to the union, where they will be allocated to the various constituencies.
