AUCKLAND GAS COMPANY, LTD. AUCKLAND GAS COMPANY, LTD. URGENT APPEAL -FOR ECONOMY URGENT APPEAL FOR ECONOMY The Company again regrets that it has to ask the immediate co-operation of all consumers in securing a very material reduction in the consumption of gas. The large increase in the requirements of many vital war industries depending on gas has, now resulted in the consumption exceeding the capacity of the plant to produce it, and unless the ordinary household consumer uses less gass all those vital industries will be seriously affected. The Company has under construction additional gas-making plant, the completion of which has been delayed several months due to shortage of suitable manpower, and consumers will be notified as soon as this plant is in operation. In the meantime you can economise by following this advice:— (1) Avoid the use of gas for space heating, except in cases of sickness. (2) Cook as many dishes as possible in the oven with the joint instead of using the top burner. (3) Don't let the flames go up the side of the pot; this gas is wasted. (4) Use as little hot water as possible. (5) Plan your cooking and meals generally so as to use the minimum, ..quantity of gas. MAKE THIS ONE OF YOUR WAR EFFORTS • • RUPERT WORLEY, Manager.
