MATAMATA The financial membership of the Matamata R.S.A. is 230. The total is made up ot 24, renewals, 25 new members, and eight members serving '.vith the forces. Cricket matches between the Southwell School. Hamilton, and the Juniors of the Matamata District Hign School, were played at Matamata this week. Final scores were: Southwell A, 46 (Gray, four wickets for 8 runs). Matamata A, 36 (Wootou, five for 35). Southwell B 42, Matamata B 39. At the annual meeting of the Matamata subcentre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society the election of officers resulted: President, Mrs. H. E. Schofield; vice-presidents, Mesdames H. Fawcett, W. A. Mrs. G. L. Barlow; advisory committee. Messrs. F. Smith, L. P. Swarbrick, W. Rushton; delegate to Waikato Centre. Mrs. H. Miller: liaison officer to Women's Division, Mrs. A. McLean; liaison officer to Patriotic Committee, Mrs. W. Rushton; liaison officer to Junior Circle, Miss M. Bayly; auditor, Mr. R. B. Morton; telephone committee. Mesdames W. Rushton. F. Washbourne, B. Pirritt, S. Houston, T. McMillan and H. Miller. Prior to their departure from Morrinsville to take up residence in Whakatane, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Compton, of Lome Street. Morrinsville, were farewelled by a number of friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Davies, "Lockerbie," Morrinsville. The annual meeting of the Tahuna branch of the Morrinsville District Patriotic Committee was held last evening, when the following officers were elected: President, Mr. R. G. Crecor.-.Se; secretary, Mrs. Cooper; treasurer, Mr. \V. H. Hanson; committee. Messrs. Crocombe. Hanson, T. R. Quine, Mesdames Cooper and W. F. Walton. Discussion took place on the means of raising the district quota and it was decided, besides employing direct giving, to hold stock drives and entertainments'. The following committees were J appointed: Stock committee. Messrs. Hanson, L. j J. Marwood, Watson, Philpott, L. L. Hopper, Peek, Quine, Swney, R. Solly, jun., and Caddigan; entertainment committee. Mesdames Savage, Walton, Taylor, Peek. Bethridge and Cooper. At the annual meeting of the Tauhei Bobby Calf Pool, Mr. J. M. Noble presided over a good attendance of suppliers. The balance-sheet, which showed a total of 5263 calves collected, with an average payout of 10/7 per calf, was adopted. The Dominion organiser of the New Zealand Pig Marketing Association. Mr. N. W. Hastings, gave a lengthy review of the past season's operations, and discussed future prospects of the industry. It was rescued to protest to the Minister of Marketing. Mr. Barclay, against the skin equalisation levy, which appeared to be a direct tax on the producers for the benefit of the community. The officers were re-elected.
