DEATH IN SYDNEY

FORMER UNION SECRETARY I Rec. 9.30 a.m. SYDNEY, April 7. The death has occur? od of Air. Thomas Walsh, stormy petrel of the Australian Seamen's Union of 20 years ago. He was aged 73. As secrotary of the Seamen's Union, he took a leading part In ihe big strike of 1925 and later was ordered to be deported. Mr. Walsh, who was born in Ireland, challenged the order, which was ruled to be ultra vires. Subsequently he sued the Government for £20,000 for wrongful arrest and false imprisonment. He was awarded £25. In 1937 he went to Japan as the guest ot the Japanese Government.
