WANT 48-HOUR WEEK

BRITISH FARM WORKERS LONDON, March 3. Farm workers want a 48-hour week after the war. They are pressing for an immediate standard of 50 in summer and 48 in winter. Mr. William Holmes, general secretary of the National Union of Agricultural Workers, told his Norfolk County committee, that the workers' representatives on the Central Wages Board would also press for improved rates for women and for better overtime pay. The union was not prepared to allow the Government to fix a "ceiling" to farm wages.
