A curfew to prevent girls under 17 years being out at night, unless accompanied by an older relative, was urged by Dr. Duhig: Roman Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane, addressing an annual meeting of the Catholic Daughters of Australia. Other measures suggested by Dr. Duhig to combat the growing immorality, which is regarded as one of Australia's gravest .war problems, were the raising of the age of consent to 18 years, a strict supervision over apartment houses, the clearing out of undesirables from city parks and heavy penalties for offences against morality in public parks.
