HARBOUR AFFAIRS
• REVENUE A RECORD In surveying a satisfactory past year at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday afternoon, the chairman, Mr. A. S. Sutherland, M.P., said that with the services they were able to supply to the land, sea and air forces, the board had played an important and helpful part in the prosecution of the war to ultimate victory for the United Nations. The chairman added that the balance sheet and revenue accounts were satisfactory. The revenue last year reached the record figure of £518,342, but exceptional conditions made comparisons difficult. There was a satisfactory surplus on the year's operations.
The chairman said that the board had endeavoured to play its part, in other directions by subscribing substantial sums to war loans, and contributing to patriotic appeals.
