HOUSE DESTROYED

Little could be done by members of the Ayondale fire station to save a house in Golf Road, New Lynn, in which a fire broke out yesterday afternoon, as there was no water available. The house, which is beyond the protected area, was destroyed, together with most of the contents. It was owned and occupied by Mr. La Rosa, whose wife and child had to leave hurriedly. A tin containing money was rescued, but some banknotes were badly charred.
