LITTLE PROGRESS
CITY TAXI CONTROL
FURTHER CONFERENCES
After further conferences this morning regarding proposals for the unifying of the taxi service in the city, the Minister of Transport, Mr. O'Brien, was unable to report any settlement.
It is known that certain proposals have been made to the taxi organisations concerning the future control and administration of the service. These proposals are said to be acceptable to one section of the industry, but not to another.
Indicative of the difficulties that have been encountered in coping with the problem was the comment of Mr. O'Brien: "I'm looking for Moses!" He indicated that he would still be occupied with the question, and in the city until Monday. This morning he "made an inspection of the Atta telephone system, which is likely to be the central system under the new unifying proposals.
