TIP-AND-RUN RAIDS
Nazi Bombers Over English Counties DIRECT HIT ON RESTAURANT
Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 10. A direct hit on a restaurant caused most of the casualties when a tip-and-run raider bombed a shopping centre in a Home Counties town this afternoon, killing and wounding a large number. Rescue squads were searching for hours after the raid for bodies believed to be buried under the debris of other buildings. In another Home Counties' town a girls' school was hit and a numbei of children in the grounds were wounded. ' , _ ... , It is officially stated, says British Official Wireless, that a small number of enemy bombers drtppped bombs this afternoon at points in the Home Counties and south coast ot England. Some damage was done and there was a number of casualties, including some fatal. Three of the enemy planes were destroyed. Coastal Command Beaufighters yesterday destroyed three of four Junkers which they intercepted in the Bay of Biscay.
