BRILLIANT SPRINT

TRANSCEND IN FORM

ACTIVITIES AT ELLERSLIE

Although there was not a great deal of training at Ellerslie this morning, several horses with engagements at Matainata on Saturday were sent against the watch, and Transcend, which has yet to win a race, easily took the honours by clocking 49s for a half-mile.. The Gynerium—Lady Bentinck colt began slower than usual, but finished brilliantly, and should soon reward Miss E. L. Morrison and trainer H. Eva. Two others to please were Belle Renarde, which shaded Gold Age over five furlongs in 1.3 1-5, and Willow Wood, which was responsible for a solid round (1.45) with Watchett. Willow Wood covered the final half-mile in 51 2-os, and was not kicked right out. Other gallops were:— Three furlongs: Lysander's Last and Roman Duke, 38s; Gay Winkle, 40s. . Four, furlongs: Yes Tor, 50 2-ss; British Victory and Silver Coin, 51 3-ss; Camilla, 525. Five furlongs: First Gold Money beat Killfast, 1.4 3-5; Catrine and Master Cameron beat Gynella, 1.3 3-5; British Mint beat Beaucoup, 1.5 4-5; Bright Fox, 1.3 3-5 A round: Volifox, 1.48 1-5, last halfmile, 54 l-ss.
