TO-DAY'S WEDDING

THORNE GEORGE—MILES

TWO WELL-KNOWN FAMILIES

A wedding of interest took place at the Holy Trinity Church, Devonport, this afternoon, when Miss Dorothy Miles, eldest daughter of Brigadier R. Miles, D.5.0., M.C., of the Second N.Z.E.F., Middle East (now a prisoner of war), and the late Mrs. Miles, was married to Sergeant Graham Thorne George, R.N.Z.A.F., only son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Thorne George, of Whenuapai. Chaplain Captain B. R.' Brierley performed the ceremony.

The bride, who was given away by Lieutenant-Colonel H. G. Wilding, D.5.0., wore a lovely trained gown of ivory satin brocade with a selfpattern of tiny squares. The skirt was gored, with a centre panel, the sleeves were puffed at the shoulders and fitting at the wrists, and the neckline was heart-shaped. The long veil was caught to the head with a spray of flowers, and a sheaf of Christmas lilies was carried.. A picture frock of white muslin with a narrow green stripe was worn by the bridesmaid, Miss Diana Leversedge. Its fully flared skirt was accented at the waist with a wide laced belt in green velvet, the round neckline was edged with lace, and the short puff sleeves and hemline were finished with green bows. A spray of deep red flowers was worn on the head, and a sheaf of deep red gladioli was carried. The best man was Sergeant Malcolm Sommerville, Army Medical Corps. A reception was afterwards given at the Esplanade Hotel, Devonport, by Mrs. Wilding, who wore a navy georgette frock and hat, and carried a pink and blue bouquet. Mrs. Thorne George was in black, with a shoulder spray.
