AIRMEN HONOURED
THREE N.Z. OFFICERS IN THE NEW YEAR'S LIST (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. Three New Zealand officers serving overseas, one of whom is a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force and two members of the Royal Air Force, were listed in the 1943 New Year's honours, states official London advice. The awards and recipients are:— Member of the British Empire.— Acting - Squadron - Leader Herbert Langdale Andrews, R.A.F. Air Force Cross. —Acting-Wing-Commander R. Faulkner Aitken, R.A.F., and Squadron-Leader Clive Walter Scott, R.N.Z.A.F. Both WingCommander Aitken and SquadronLeader Andrews joined the Royal Air Force in peace-time. SquadronLeader Scott, however, joined the R.N.Z.A.F. at the outbreak of the war, having formerly been a member of the civil reserve of pilots. Squadron-Leader Scott was born in Milton, Otago, and educated at the South Otago High School. He applied for membership in the civil reserve of pilots early in 1939. Not long after his acceptance the war broke out, and he thereupon volunteered for service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. His training commenced in January, 1940. He received his commission in August of the same year, and proceeded overseas. In civil life he was a member of the staff of the New Zealand Railways Department. His father is Mr. John Scott, of Balclutha.
