WON NAVY CROSS
PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT'S SON WASHINGTON, Jan. 14. The United States Navy Department has announced that Lieutenant Colonel James Roosevelt. United States Marines, son of Roosevelt, has been awarded the Navy Cross for the part he pl a y e d m the attack on the. Japanese-held Makin Island in August. The citation says Colonel Roosevelt, who was second-in-command of the expedition, fully exposed himself to heavy machine-gun fire at great risk to himself.
