PERMITS TO RETURN
WOMEN AND CHILDREN
FIJI GOVERNMENT'S MOVE
(0.C.) SUVA, Dec. 23. The Government of Fiji has stated that if it is desired that women and children who left the colony owing to war conditions should return to it, permits may be obtained upon application to the Colonial Secretary. It is strongly urged, however, that children who are of an age to be left at school in New Zealand or Australia should remain there, as the Government is unable to undertake any responsibility for educational facilities or special diet for children. All supplies may become extremely difficult to obtain. Much civilian housing accommodation has been requisitioned for the forces, and civilian requirements must necessarily give way to considerations of military necessity. Taking all this into consideration, the Government will pive permission only in ap-1 proved cases. I
