RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IN RUSSIA

On page 73, note 1, of his book "Sur Ja Religion," Lenin wrote, "We must be determined to endure every sacrifice, and to put into practice every possible device—trickery, artifice, unlawful methods, ready to conceal or to dissimulate the truth," etc. In Australia and in New Zealand that shabby advice is followed blindly by Communist agents. Is there question of class tyranny? Then Communist agents declare that the Communist dictatorship in Russia is the quintessence of Democracy, But the fact that no candidates except Communists are permitted to seek election is hidden in silence. Is religious freedom in Russia questioned? Then communist apologists assure us "There has been complete religious freedom in U.S.S.R." (I quote from Mr. R. H. Jones' letter. Star, -26/12/42); but not one word of evidence is advanced in support of that amazing mis-statement. An unfortunate condition is that scores of honest but uninformed readers will swallow boldly uttered rubbish; and the statements quoted from your, correspondent's letter is sheer rub-" bish. Mr. Jones is now free to bring up his evidence in support, if he has any to offer. HUGH McHAIGH.
