Although the No. 1 grass at Ellerslie this morning provided excellent going the work did not produce any outstandP; tout some useful sprinting was indulged in. The poles were sft out. Over three furlongs. Purple Vermeer recorded 39 3-os. Unadorned 41 3-ss. Gran--s'®™ 425, and Gentry and General Burleigh 395. Wee Pay registered the best figures for L a . "\ lle ' ? locki ng 50s to finish in front of British Mint. Suntrap was going nicely over the same ground in 51s, and there
was little between Sitara, Subadar and Altess in 525. Kiatere Maati recorded 53 l-ss, Dependable and Mr. Dedds 535, and Lo Zin, Naini Tal and Shepherd's Mate 51 3-ss. Last Survey beat Torbay at the end of five furlongs in 1.7 3-5, Hunting King, alone, clocking similar time. Golden Pay left the same distance behind in 1 6 1-5 Lady Reynard and Sporting Gold beat Master Warden in 1.7. Charivari strode nicely over six furI°ne s „ in JlB 2-5, Pennywhistle taking 1.22, Tea Gong and Volifox finishing on terms in 1.19. & Aero King and Camilla ran seven furlongs in 1.35, and Lady Ex a mile in 1 49 4-d.
