THEFT FROM HOTEL
LABOURER FOR SENTENCE
In the Magistrate's Court, Onehunga, this morning, William Leslie Davis, labourer (Mr. W. Noble) was charged with breaking and entering the premises of the Manukau HoteL Onehunga, at night, on October 23 and stealing 90 bottles of ale and one clock, to the total value of £10. Mr. W. H. Marshall, the licensee stated that he found indications that entry had been made by forcing the dining room window. On checking the stock, he found that 90 bottles of ale were missing. Fifty-seven bottles had since been found hidden in the long grass of an adjacent military camp. He identified them by the stock num as part of the hotel
Constable Rogers stated that he found accused drunk in Princes Street with a sack containing eight bottles of ale and the clock mentioned in the charge.
