PROMOTED MAJOR

Mr. J. R. Tong, of 61, O'Rorke Koad, Penrose, has received advice that his son, Captain Edgar J. Tong has been promoted to the rank of major. Major Tong, who left as a first-lieutenant in the 27th Machine

Gunners with the First New Zealand Echelon, served throughout the campaigns in Libya and Greece, and he is the eldest of two brothers and a sister all on active service in the Middle East. Before leaving New Zealand Major Tong was in the employ of the Waitomo Power Board at Otorohanga.
