KIA ORA FROM HONGKONG
'0.c.) WELLINGTON, this day. News of two New Zealanders in Hongkong, Mr. and Mrs. George Loader, is contained in a letter received by the Minister of Mines, Mr. Webb, from Mrs. Loader. This letter to believed to be the first received in New Zealand from an internee in Hongkong since its capture by the Japanese at the end of last year.
Mrs. Loader comes from the West Coast and, with her husband, went to Hongkong a few years ago. He is a marine engineer, and before his departure for the East he was working in Wellington. The letter, which is dated May 19, is written from the Stanley Civilian Internee Camp, Hongkong. It is as follows:—
"Just a note to let all in New Zealand know that I am alive and fairly well. George is also in Hongkong, but not in this camp. "I am always thinking of all friends in New Zealand, ana think of the happy days in store for all when we meet once again. To you all I send best wishes. Lots of love and very very many kia ora's.—Henrietta Gladys Loader."
