LIBERTY LOAN APPEAL

WAR COSTS £360,000 DAILY

The war was costing New Zealand £360,000 a day, said the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, when appealing last night for a full support of the second Liberty Loan of £10.000,000 launched yesterday. The estimated amount required for this year was £133,000,000.

The danger of inflation, too, made it necessary for anj r surplus purchasing power to be used in savings if the country was to be kept financially stable, said Mr. Fraser. Inflation was possible unless the enforced drop in production of goods once bought by the public was cancelled by an equivalent withdrawal of spending power.
