WEEK-END LEAVE
May I join with the many who are indignant at the injustice being accorded our menfolk with reference to the cancellation of their week-end leave. Do mothers realise that a son of 20 years of age will be permitted to visit his home just three times more in the next twelve months before going overseas. All these lads look forward to the few hours they have at home during their week-end leave, just as we wives and mothers wait for the week-end when once again our loved ones will be enabled to join us. It has been said that too much time is wasted in travelling. Would it be unreasonable to suggest that that contingency could be overcome by the efficient organisation of our troops. Surely we now have sufficient camps in New Zealand to enable our menfolk to be posted to stations within the required travelling distance to and from their home. Must we conclude there is no one capable of reorganising our defence system, wherebv this difficulty could be overcome? FAIR PLAY.
