TRAM ACCIDENT
FULL INVESTIGATION REPORT FOR THE BOARD "Full investigation is being made into the circumstances of the tram accidcnt in Queen Street yesterday," and the engineer and manager of the Auckland Transport Board, Mr. A. E. Ford, this morning. He added that all those concerned were being interviewed, and a report on the accident would be made to the board. .Mr. Ford said that no question of faulty brakes or equipment had arisen, the second accident being caused by the wrecking of the brakes on the front, of the Avondale tramcar when the tirst collision occurred in I'pper Queen Street. That put the car out of control on one of the steepest grades in the city. The whole of the braking equipment for the trams was very good, and careful inspection was made daily to keep it up to the highest point of efficiency. Patient's Condition It was reported from the Auckland Hospital to-day that the condition of Mr. Cyril .lames Lewis-Newton, whose left foot was severed in the accident, had improved.
