PROTECTION SOCIETY
The monthly executive meeting of the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children was presided over by Mr. Dawson Donaldson. It was reported that a total of 92 cases had applied for assistance and legal help during the month, including 11 affiliation cares. The solicitor's services were given in seven cases. Arrangements for a conference of delegates from the southern branches to be held in Auckland in October were confirmed, and three delegates appointed from the Auckland branch. The Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, president of the society, will open the conference. Among the subjects for discussion on remits regarding social problems was the alarming increase of venereal disease, better control over wayward girls, and more stringent enforcement of the licensing laws.
