EDUCATION BOARD SEAT

A by-election held to elect one member to represent the East Ward of the rural area on the Auckland Education Board has resulted in the return of Mr. A. Bell. The voting was:—Mr. A. Bell (Tauranga), 368; Mr. J. Banks (Rotorua), 199; Dr. F. T. Birkinshaw (Coromandel), 90. Mr. Bell has had a wide experience as an educationist. He held the position of headmaster of the Tauranga District High School at the time of his retirement last year.
