N.Z. Airmen Now Captives In Germany BATTLE OF BRITAIN HERO Special Correspondent Rec. 2 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 16. ! Two New Zealand flight-lieutenants and winners of the D.F.C. who were shot down over Germany are now sharing the same room in a prison camp. They are Flight-Lieutenant A. G. L. Humphreys, of Christchurch, and Flight-Lieutenant R. Simich, of Auckland. Squadron-Leader Alan Deere, D.F.C. and bar, of Wanganui, was among the Battle of Britain pilots who accompanied Air Chief-Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding when he related the story of September 15, 1940, at the Ministry of Information this week. Their photographs appeared in every newspaper and were invariably captioned "Some of the few." BANDS FOR FORCES Rec. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 16. The War Production Board has ordered manufacturers, wholesale dealers and jobbers to sell all their stocks of band instruments direct to the army and navy, says a message from New York.
