CANTEEN MONEY THEFT
(P.A.) BLENHEIM, Wednesday. A soldier, John Alexander Finlay, aged 19, pleaded guilty before Mr. T. E. Maunsell, S.M., to three charges of theft of canteen and patriotic funds totalling £66. He was sentenced to three years' reformative detention. Frederick Alexander Billens, aged 30, charged with aiding and abetting Finlay, received a similar sentence. The police said £58 was recovered. Billens was employed in the canteen and possessed keys. He showed Finlay where the cash was kept and then arranged to leave the doors open for him.
