EQUALITY

During the past few years considerable progress has been made with regard to women representatives on local bodies, Parliament and public affairs generally. That they have done good work is beyond all doubt, but there are many matters which escape their attention; for instance, women's conveniences. Why is it that men are so well provided for in comparison? To make matters worse, a fee is demanded, which does not apply to the men. In addition to this women are confronted with the embarrassing spectacle of a man clearing the pennies from the doors of the lavatories in the city. Surely the council can employ an honest and efficient woman to do this work. EMBARRASSED.
