MEAT DELIVERIES

MAY BE DISCONTINUED

Drastic curtailment of retail meat deliveries in Auckland city and suburbs is considered imminent as a result of a recommendation by the oil fuel controller to the Master Butchers' Association that deliveries in the metropolitan area be compulsorily zoned or entirely eliminated. This step had been made necessary by the acute position regarding petrol and tyres, stated a member of the association to-day. He added that over the past few months the butchers ,in many cases, had voluntarily reduced the deliveries, and an Increasing number of people were now calling at the shops for their meat.
