A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING

I would like to protest against the reprehensible practice of young ladies cleaning and polishing their finger nails in the public trams. It is simply not done in the best circles. I have seen this action on numerous occasions, and it would appear to be a common practice with New Zealand girls, as I have never seen it done in other places I have visited. On a tram to Onehunga recently one dear young thing, well dressed and obviously of the "'office class." sitting on the right-hand longitudinal seat .lust inside the door (motorman's end), was haying quite a busy time with her digits. Having completed the operation to her personal satisfaction, she shook the dust of ages and the parings of nor nails- on the unfortunate passenger sharinc the same seat. TRAVELLER.
