EVENING FUNCTION

EXGLISH-SI'KAKIXG UNION The first of a series of evening functions arranged by the committee of the local branch of the Eng-lish-Speaking Union was held at the Society of Arts rooms last night, and took the form of a cinematographic entertainment, in technicolour, of photographs of different countries taken by Miss L. llellaby, of Auckland. Some fine views of Australia were also screened by Mr. Tomkinson.

Mr. J. R. Elsbury, chairman of the committee, welcomed the members and visitors, and Miss A. R. Quayle. organising secretary, acted as h'ost : ess.
