Evans Head showed improvement on {•''run into second plate in the Trentham A° w,he Winter Hurdles with"'as ridden in behind the leaders until half a mile from home, and then put in a claim resulting in easy success. In better going at Rlccarton he may add the Grancf National Hurdles to a splendid record. Renascor showed stamina for second, though he was too far out of his ground in the middle stages to hold a winning chance.
Night Eruption took the Members' Handicap In a spectacular finish, just Retting up on the post. This was her first win for some time. Kara Avis galloped clear racing on to the course proper, out he was practically going up and down in one p!ace over the last 50 yards, thus enabling Night Eruption to catch him in the final strides.
The totalisator handled £107,392 10/ compared with £90,(529 for the last day, kaUirday, In 1940, an increase of £16,763 10/. No meeting was held last year.
