OBITUARY

MR. DONALD MUNRO (0.C.) WHANGAREI, Thursday. One of the last Gaelic-speaking residents of Waipu, Mr. Donald Munro, has died at the age of 97. Mr. Munro was born in New Zealand shortly after the arrival of his parents, from Nova Scotia. He conversed entirely in Gaelic when at home until he was 15. Mr. Munro was one of the first to open up settlement in the Parua district. He returned to Waipu about 30 years ago. Mr. Munro is survived by six daughters.
