WHOLESALE MARKETS
; TRADE WELL MAINTAINED ; Eue to the holiday at the beginning of last ' week most warehouses have been unable to completely * handle the volume of business which came to hand, and deliveries in many cases sure * well behind schedule. The indications so far * this week are that the voluxae of turnover will » be maintained, and with the carry-over from last week, it is expected that extremely ousy conditions will continue. In the tobacco section orders * are already coming to hand for the mid-month delivery, which will be made to the country on Monday next, and in the city and suburban area - on the following day. As was to be expected. numerous problems have arisen in connection with " tea supplies, following the introduction of ration- * t ing at the beginning of last week. These problems are by no means completely clarified as' yet, but > the packers are making deliveries as fast as their r staff and facilities enable them, and in the -j meantime retailers generally appear to have sufficient stocks to redeem the coupons presented. Owing to shipping delays and the shortage of supplies, stocks of many lines produced in the South are in extremely short compass. This position is rapidly becoming more prevalent, and the list of lines which are out of stock temporarily due to this factor is increasing.
