ANOTHER SHIP SUNK
U-BOATS IX ST. LAWRENCE | Rec. 1.30 a.m. OTTAWA. May 14.! The Minister for Naval Defence ' Mr. A. L. Macdonald. announced in' ! the Canadian House of Commons that an enemy submarine had sunk ' a second vessel in the St. Lawrence i River. Mr. Macdonald said that the ' second ship was sunk in about the same waters and at about the same time as the first. Fourteen members of the crews are dead and «4 survivors have been rescued from the two torpedoed freighters in the St. Lawrence River. The New York Times .-aid that officials in Washington were great lv concerned over the two sinkings Yn the St. Lawrence River. "We can expect shortly an intensified U-boat campaign against American shipping in the Atlantic, particularly with a view to cutting the Russian supply lines, the paper says. "Recent information indicates that German submarines in the Atlantic have more than 15.000 miles cruising range and are capable of two months' cruising." i
