The Mayor. Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, has been advised by Mr. J. Thorn, M.P.. that Mr. Gifford. the National Service Department, and himself will arrive in Waihi on Monday for a conference with interests " concerned relative to the promised investigation of the mining situation in Waihi. following certain submissions made recently by the Mayor through MiThorn, affecting the position of the mining industry and the town should the calling up of miners for military service continue. The Mayor has made arrangements for representatives of the Martha Company and the Miners Union, including the Inspector of Mines, to be present at the conference.
