Mr. Justice Callan returned to Auckland by the Limited express this morning. Mr. D. J. Cummings, Commissioner of Police, will join this evening's southbound Limited at Frankton. Mr. A. McKenzie, vice-chairman of the Auckland division of the National party, left for Wellington this afternoon. Commissioner J. Evan Smith, territorial commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, travelled to Wellington last night. The representative of the Maori race on the Executive Council, Mr. P. K. Paikea, travelled on the northbound Limited express last night. Detective-Sergeant W. R. Fell, formerly stationed in Palmerston North, has arrived in Auckland on transfer to the detective office here. Detective F. X. Quinn, who has been at the Auckland Central Police Station for the past eight years, will leave shortly, on transfer, for Palmerston North. Mr. G. H. Smith, of Te Hana, a teacher for 40 years and headmaster of the Port Albert School for many years, was welcomed as a member of the Auckland Education Board, in succession to the late Mr. J. E. Elliott, at a meeting of the board this morning.
