NINETY YEARS OLD

GREENHITBB RESIDENT

Mrs. Alice Redfern, of Greenhithe, celebrated her 90th birthday to-day. Mrs. Redfern was born at Weston-super-Mare and came .to New Zealand at the age of 16 on the Empress. After her marriage in 1872, she resided at Russell, Paparoa, Thames and, for the past 43 years, had lived at Greenhithe. She had 10 children, six of whom are living. There are 32 grandchildren ana 42 greatgrandchildren. Eight grandsons are at present serving with the Forces. Her youngest son was killed at Gallipoli and a grandson killed in Crete in this war.
