GAINED COMMISSION

WELL-KNOWN BOXER Advice of the promotion of Richard Branch, of Auckland, to the rank of pilot-officer in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, has been received

from Canada by relatives in Auckland. Pilot-Officer Branch was well known in boxing circles in Auckland, and in 1937, 1938 and 1939 he won the middle-weight championship.
