A Maori, William Maru. emploved as a miner at Huntly, was fined" £2 and 15/ costs by Mr. J. 11. Luxford, S.M., in the Pukekohe Court vesterday for supplying a Maori woman with liquor at Pukekohe on February 7. Defendant did not appear, but the police produced a statement in which he admitted giving the weman a bottle of beer* the liquor having been given to him by a pakeha whom he did not know.
