STORAGE OF MEAT

AMPLE ACCOMMODATION j

Storage accommodation for meat in the Auckland province was not becoming overloaded, the Minister of Marketing, Mr. Barclay, told meat producers yesterday. He said far mers need have no worries on that score. There had been good clearances of cold stocks, and present indications were that the stores would accommodate comfortably the season's kill of export stock.

Storage capacity for meat in the Auckland province was 47,000 tons and tlie total quantity of meat in store at the middle of the present month was only 18,000 tons. Owing to the dry spell and the shortage oi labour at the freezing works there might be a temporary check in the rate at which farmers could dispose of their stock to the works, but nothing more serious than that was anticipated.
